Do I Need A Personal Website to Sell Art? (1 of 30)
Not really. You do need a web presence, which at a minimun should be a blog, and a gallery site. And I am convinced that you can get a decent gallery system going by using Imagekind or redbubble. Welcome to my 30 Day challenge to my self .
Goal: Come out of no where using free services, sell two original paintings and 5 prints in 30 days or less.
First I need to establish accounts using the following services:
Yahoo Email: _____________________________________________________
Flickr (hook to Yahoo Email): _________________________________________
Imagekind Site: ____________________________________________________
Start A Blog With a New Alias: _________________________________________
Twitter Account: __________________________________________________
Facebook: _______________________________________________________
MySpace: _______________________________________________________
Squidoo: ________________________________________________________
Paypal: _________________________________________________________
This is the check list I am starting with. I offer it to those of you who would like to try the challenge. You of course will not have to get new accounts for everything. I am gettng new accounts for everything to prove a point. When I establish my accounts, I need to fill out a planned profile. My profiles will all be linked to a well developed artist statement.
In addition to the above you should have a body of work of 30 pieces that you believe the world will want and a killer artist statement.
Good Luck, More on this latter this evening.
Social Marketing Trifecta
In Wikipedia: Trifecta is defined as a parimutuel bet in which the bettor must predict which horses will finish first, second, and third in exact order. The word comes from the related betting term, “perfecta”.
In Internet Social Marketing term, I’d like to think that a Trifecta is when my blog entry feeds my Twitter, and my Twitter feeds my Facebook. So I am effectively getting coverage from three tools just by using my main tool, my blog.
So of course you need a Twitter Account, a Facebook Account and a blog with an RSS feed. If you need help getting any of these please make sure you sign up for one of our course offerings.
http://twitterfeed.com can connect to your twitter account and to the rss feed from you blog. If you have a Wordpress Blog, the feed address should be http://blogname.wordpress.com/feed. Basically you log in to twitterfeed, hook up to your twitter account and point it at your blog rss and it will post updates from you blog to twitter every hour. That could be considered a perfecta, if you picked blog post and tweet in that order.
To get the trifecta you need you third application hooked in. Facebook has an application simple called Twitter, which copies your tweets to you wall so they go as shout out to you Facebook buddies and fans. It’s cool, saves time and cost nothing. Get more social networing done with less effort.
Let me know if you have any challenges with this. It will help for the upcomming courses, I am going to be publishing here.
Thanks for checking us out.
